Four ways we work with clients

Most people reach out for one of four reasons: they want this year filed correctly, they've fallen behind, they're setting up a business, or they want to pay less next year on purpose. Here's how each of those works with us.

Tax Preparation (Current Year)

Available February 1 – April 15

Let us be your tax preparer so you get the maximum refund you're owed. We handle federal and state returns for individuals, families, contractors, and small business owners.

Filing season fills up, so we open the calendar on February 1 and work through April 15. Bring what you have — we tell you what's missing, request anything the IRS already holds on your behalf, and quote a flat fee in writing before any work starts.

Before your return is submitted, a second set of eyes reviews it and we walk you through your refund or balance in plain English. Nothing gets filed that you haven't seen and understood.

  • Individual, family, and joint returns
  • Self-employed, 1099, and Schedule C filers
  • Credits reviewed line by line: EITC, Child Tax Credit, education, dependent care
  • Flat fee quoted in writing before we begin

Back Filing

Available year-round

Haven't filed in years? Let's just get it done. One unfiled year or ten, the process is the same and there are no lectures about how you got here.

We start by pulling your IRS transcripts so we can see exactly what the government already has on file. From there we file each open year in order, so credits, carryovers, and losses land in the years they belong to instead of getting lost.

If the IRS filed a substitute return for you, we replace it with an accurate one. If a balance remains after everything is filed, we prepare penalty relief requests and payment arrangement paperwork so you have a realistic path forward instead of a growing notice pile.

  • Transcript retrieval for prior years
  • Missing W-2s and 1099s reconstructed from IRS records
  • Substitute-for-return replacement when the IRS filed for you
  • Penalty relief requests and payment arrangements when a balance remains

Legal Entity Formation

Available year-round

Set your business up on the right structure from day one instead of paying to unwind it later. We form the entity, handle the filings that come with it, and make sure the tax treatment matches how you actually take income.

Structure drives the return. An LLC taxed as a sole proprietorship, an S-corp with reasonable owner compensation, and a partnership with K-1s all produce very different outcomes for the same revenue — so we choose based on how you operate, not on what's trendy.

Because we also prepare your returns, your entity filings and personal return stay consistent year over year.

  • LLC, S-corp, and partnership formation
  • EIN registration and state filings
  • Entity choice matched to how you take income
  • Ongoing business returns and owner K-1s handled with your personal return

Tax Strategies

Available year-round — must be set up in advance

This is planning, not repair. Real strategies have to be documented and in place during the tax year — once December 31 passes, the opportunity is gone and your return can only report what already happened.

Two concrete examples: paying your children through the business, up to $7,500, which has to be set up with real work and real records before year-end; and the Augusta Rule, which lets you rent your own home to your business tax-free for 2–4 business-use days per year when the documentation is done correctly.

We set the structure up ahead of time and prepare the paperwork so the strategy holds up on paper, then your return simply reflects decisions you already made.

  • Paying your children through the business — up to $7,500 — set up before year-end
  • The Augusta Rule: renting your own home to your business tax-free for 2–4 business-use days per year
  • Structured before December 31, not discovered in April
  • Documentation prepared so the strategy holds up on paper
